The Frog is one of the most famous amphibians. Together with toads it forms the class of anuronic amphibians. The genus of frogs belongs to the class of anuras, subordinate to amphibians. The most common frog species in Greece are the green frog and the Common Frog. Vortakos is the frog in the Cypriot dialect. Also the word bortakodyma refers to the green algae of freshwater.
