Statue Satyr

The satyrs were inferior mythical beings demons of Greek mythology, (spirits of the mountains and forests), whom poetry and art depicted from the waist up almost anthropomorphic, bald and with pointed ears, with legs and a goat's tail, in contrast to the Selenians, whose lower half of the body resembled a horse. They were, like the Selenians, servants and companions of the god Dionysus, whom they had brought up from a child. Their favorite occupation was the playing of flute and guitar, the harvest and the methoking, but also the hunting of girls , who were all together the personification of the fertility of nature.
